Designing Pensamientos desde el corazón del Pastor: A Collaborative Editorial Project

Pensamientos desde el corazón del Pastor is a collection of 64 devotional reflections by Pastor Eliezer Acevedo, each inspired by Scripture and written to encourage, strengthen, and build the reader's faith.

This project was the result of a close collaboration between author Eliezer Acevedo, editor Ofelia Pérez, and myself, Rick Lipsett, as the graphic designer responsible for both the cover and interior layout.

The cover design centers on a thoughtful portrait of Pastor Acevedo reading the Bible, visually communicating the origin of the book's reflections. Rather than presenting a posed image, the composition captures a quiet moment of meditation on God's Word, reinforcing the idea that these writings are born from biblical reflection and shared with the purpose of edifying the reader. The restrained color palette, elegant typography, and minimalist composition create a timeless visual identity that reflects the contemplative nature of the book.

Inside, the editorial design follows a clean and minimalist approach, placing readability above all else. Generous white space, carefully selected typography, and a consistent visual hierarchy create a calm reading experience that allows each devotional message to take center stage. The layout encourages readers to slow down, reflect, and engage with the content without unnecessary visual distractions.

To enrich the reading experience, subtle monochromatic illustrations accompany selected reflections. These graphic elements reinforce the themes of each devotional while preserving the clean aesthetic and maintaining the focus on the text.

Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtful editorial design can support the author's message, transforming a collection of reflections into a cohesive and engaging reading experience.
