Designing Los Hijos Grandes Maestros by Amneris Meléndez
Some books arrive as projects. Others arrive as conversations.
The revised and updated edition of Los Hijos Grandes Maestros, written by Amneris Meléndez, was one of those projects that felt deeply personal from the very beginning. A book that speaks softly, yet carries a powerful voice—especially for those of us who are raising children and learning alongside them.
The visual journey of the book began with the cover, beautifully designed by Halina Viahera. Her work set a thoughtful and emotional tone that became the foundation for the interior design. From there, my role was to translate that visual language into the pages themselves—creating an interior that felt warm, reflective, and intentional, allowing the content to breathe and resonate with the reader.
Designing the interior of this book was a truly rewarding experience. The subject matter invited care and sensitivity, calling for a layout that felt calm, inviting, and respectful of the author’s voice. Every design decision was made to support a reading experience that feels personal, almost like a quiet conversation between the author and the reader.
The editorial process was guided by Ofelia Pérez, whose thoughtful approach helped refine and strengthen the manuscript for this updated edition. Together, author, editor, cover designer, and interior designer worked in close collaboration to bring this new version to life with clarity and coherence.
This book is a reminder that some stories don’t just inform—they accompany us. Los Hijos Grandes Maestros offers a meaningful perspective for parents and caregivers, inviting reflection, growth, and connection through its pages.
Projects like this are a testament to the power of collaborative editorial work, where design becomes a bridge between emotion, message, and reader.
